The seller has a financial planning component he plans to retain. If the buyer wants to lease the current space, an office sharing arrangement is possible and would be great for client retention. These are long time, somewhat older clients. There is a fair amount of Schedule C, D, and E's. About 25% of the clients use financial planning services that the seller plans to continue providing. Nearly all the clients come to the office for an annual tax interview. This practice will require an experienced tax professional who has a good personality. The hourly billing rate is $150 but work is usually not billed out by the hour. The current owner doesn't make a profit since he focuses on his financial planning business and utilizes a full staff for this practice - obviously a full time owner will have a net in line with industry standards.
