This is a tax preparation and tax consulting business, consisting of 117 individual returns and 19 business returns. These clients are what remain of the practice after this EA began to down size some years ago. All of the high maintenance and price sensitive clients have been weeded out already. The vast majority of the clients are well educated, politically progressive Berkeley and Bay Area people. There has been a focus on small businesses, operating as Schedule C and E taxpayers as well as small business partnerships and S Corporations whose income flows into their 1040s that the EA also prepares. The best match would be someone who has a Berkeley or Berkeley area office for the first year. The billing rate is $175 per hour but tax returns are billed for value, not hourly.
