Most new clients come from referrals. They have some Yellow Pages ads and have tried coupons, and local papers but they rely on referrals primarily. There are about 60 -65 payroll clients. About 55 are strictly payroll. They provide bookkeeping services for about 30 - 40 clients. For tax interviews, they meet with about 60 to 75% of the clients. They send appointment letters out the first week of January. They actually meet with about 900 of the clients. The rest drop off or mail in their information. The practice could be relocated but it would need to remain within the Lompoc area since the majority of the clients live in Lompoc. Taxes are billed by form and the bookkeeping billing rate is right around $50/hr. This is a husband/wife team.
